I finally understand Star Wars now that I’ve read the trilogy. I just couldn’t follow along with the movies. The book goes more in depth with the characters emotions and thoughts which is what I really like and think that the movie is lacking. The story in general is great as well! A nice mix of family drama, action, and romance. 😇 I suggest reading even if you’ve seen all the movies!

A must read for all hardcore Star Wars fans. You get more details and deeper insight to why everything played out as it did. Aswell has having better character depth than the movies, It's hard to capture someones thoughts in movies without having the inner monologues narrated. George Lucas and his co-writers captures the depth wonderfully here and explaining the connections between the force and nature.
In addition to getting to read deleted scenes and unaltered scenes you got a fuller picture of everything and their feeling, In the movies you don't really notice Leia using the force but here it's explained in contrast with her feelings and thoughts.

Only the third section is well-written, making the first two installments harder to get through.

It’s a long book. And honestly, if I want to know the story of the Original Trilogy, I’ll just watch the movies. I think I bought this book while on a particularly trigger happy spending spree, and also because I own the RotS novelization and also the Rouge One novelization (which I both liked) so I figured “why not buy another novelization?” But I never really intended to read it, I simply just wanted to own it which in other words means I had money at the time and fell victim to the desire to own books I don’t need.
