It was hard to get into this book. Although it was based on a teenage boy, the dialect of the book didn’t match this. It also felt anticlimactic. I did feel sad but I didn’t connect with the characters or the storyline. The last 100 pages moved a bit faster and I connected with more. Nonetheless, it was a sad book about the injustice in this world, but I don’t think it tugged at my heartstrings as much as I was expecting it to.

This book was making me feel really uncomfortable, so I could only read it slowly, but a book about a place like Guantanamo shouldn't be easy to read, especially when it's about an innocent teenager being there. I don't know how close it is to reality but it is a fact that Guantanamo Bay and other prisons like it are "hell on earth". This book brings the topic closer to you and I especially liked a letter the teenager wrote, saying that even if he wasn't innocent he wouldn't deserve such a treatment.

It's a really sad book.
A boy with a hars destiny that he clearly doesn't deserve.
Talks about the prejudices of occidental people against palestinian.

Some parts I really enjoyed, and then there was quite a few parts that was harder to understand, maybe that’s just me I don’t know, but because it’s known as a children’s book you’d think it be easy to fully understand.
There was also times I thought parts were just being dragged out.

Guantanamo Boy was probably one of the best books I've read in a while.
