Me reading this book is a result of scrolling through Kindle Unlimited late at night trying to find a book that fit a prompt for a readathon I'm doing this weekend. And this was a stretch. The prompt was dolphin so you could read books about dolphins etc, but also it could be interpreted as a book with the sea in it. I only had a few of those (it's not usually my favorite setting) and I really wasn't in the mood. The only other thing for the prompt was that dolphin means "protector." And anytime there is an alpha werewolf (or shifter in this case) there is going to be a protective vibe.

Okay this wasn't perfect. The writing felt like the author thought every step the characters took had to be written down and sometimes it felt like I was reading directions. The dialogue was a bit choppy. The world building to page count ratio felt off. There was just a bit too much info-dumping for such a short book. However, the world was kind of interesting and I thought the tension in this book was well done. The tension is what I was here for. The plot was intriguing enough, but again the relationship between the two main characters was more interesting to me and it's what I kept reading for. The characters themselves were okay, but I'm hoping for more fleshing out in the next book.

I am intrigued enough to read the next one, I think. I'm still not entirely sure though.
