This was an entertaining biography. It was funny and informative without idolizing Brooks. I especially liked the way Louise's own words were integrated into the work.

This book is... Thorough. This isn't a fast read of all the highlights; this is a book highlighting the breadth of experience Brooks experienced.
All in all I can't shake the feeling that something, either ADHD or trauma, or neglect is at the heart of Brooks' self-destructive behavior. But ultimately I'm left with the feeling that a lot of what she got in life was because of her beauty and charisma and luck more than any kind of people skills.

Lovely, sad, tragic Louise Brooks. A really insightful look into the eternal mystery of that great woman. I read Lulu in Hollywood last year and it was exquisite. This book is a good companion to understanding Louise Brooks.

The very best thing I learned from this wonderful biography is that Louise Brooks used to call the library 30 or 40 times a day when she was elderly and trying desperately to keep her brilliant mind. Be nice to difficult old ladies, ya'll!

It's moving and thorough, but the bias towards sources who agreed to talk to Paris is unnerving at times. A wonderful read and highly recommended overall.

How beautiful, how fascinating, how complex. "If I ever bore you, it'll be with a knife." How hedonistic. How so capable to snatch failure from the jaws of success so many times.

A fascinating read.
