Agency, morality and learning to think for oneself and make ethical decisions.

Themes of grooming and learning to break from ideologies you’re raise with, alongside the need for patience and second chances.

What does it look like to face a friend? To be a friend? Who do you want to become?

Great to have Peril’s POV as a very simplistic and self-centred voice, for readers to identify with and/or debate.

Bonus points for adorable child-speaking Cliff!

Chameleon who escapes into alternate identities. Peril who dreams of being “cured”, then turns it down.  (Queen) Ruby who shows mercy, insists on it, as an adult rather than an idealistic child hero.

Power, and how it can corrupt. Trust. Choices defining you.

Lots of meaty stuff!
