I wanted to love this book but I found too many 'lucky breaks' for our heros unbelievable.

For those of you old enough to remember the original series of Star Trek, and how there was always an extra on the away missions, and that extra was always the one who ended up being killed.  This book felt a bit like that, as the story unravelled you could predict who was next based on their importance.

The tension build up as the story progressed was good, it had you turning pages quicker but I found the ending a bit lacking.  As a work of fiction I don't care if there is any truth to the things discovered, as the saying goes 'we don't know what we don't know' and nothing could be truer when it comes to deep inside the Amazon jungle.  So who knows maybe what was discovered is still out there waiting for us.  But it didn't give me quite the feeling of authenticity as I felt reading the first book in this series.

Let me start with this is first book I’ve read by this author; it starts out rough... and is not a fast paced book. But it has plenty of detail, the characters are pretty believable and plot is ok.

This book caught me and wouldn't let go. I read it in one night. Who needs sleep anyway.
