Well these short stories were a trip. I wish I could recall where I came up with the idea to read hot water music, who to blame. I'm sure it is no one but myself. It had me cringing, full of the urge to turn it off and not start it up again. But alas, I continued. I'm not sure there is a person I would recommend it to, except one or two of the stories to my boyfriend if he was in a "robot chicken" kinda mood. I'm also not particularly into the mind state it sent the reader into. Can't win them all. Maybe the issue is due to me listening to it on audiobook and I really disliked the narrators voice.

There's some great stories here, the collection as whole might not be great, but I enjoyed it. what else matter??

Apparently, despite how much I like his novels and poetry, I just don't like Bukowski's short stories. I'm not sure why that might be.

Might be my favorite of his that I’ve read. Mostly because the stories were short and fairly funny. Still lots of drinking, farting and humping.
