It was entertaining enough, but only 2 of the characters acted with common sense- the father with schizophrenia, and his 12 year-old daughter. Its basically a book about what could happen if you live with your head in the sand.

I'm not sure what to say about this book. It held my interest and the writing was very good. I just think that after reading such a heart wrenching book Before this one I was too emotionally drained to get attached and sucked in.

I read it, but quite frankly, I'm not sure that I really liked it. Not a bad read, not a fantastic one either. Just ok for me.

While I liked many parts to this, this was a book I found myself liking, but not loving.
SpoilerPart way through the book, I realized that for the amount of time the author had spent dropping little bits of doubt about the innocence of all the male characters, one of two things was going to happen. Either I just wasn't going to be surprised when one of them did it OR, when it wasn't one of them I still wasn't going to be surprised BECAUSE of all the doubt casting about the men's innocence. When it was the latter, I was left just feeling a bit "oh, okay" and wishing that there had been more character development about these children, and more tension in the story.

Even so, it was still an enjoyable read with an interesting plot and characters.

I quite liked this book, although due to the tone of the story it isn't something you could say you really enjoyed (whodunnit based around the abuse of a young girl). It's heart is in the right place though. Interesting characters and well structured. Good beach read.

*Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me this book in exchange for an honest review*

Lisa Jewell is one of my favourite authors and this book didn't disappoint! It had me hooked from the beginning, and the ending shocked me.

A very bland book, but quick to read. Super predictable and nothing particularly engaging or thrilling about it. Just "meh".
