This was so unbelievably fun and cute. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen The Dark Crystal and I remember being caught in-between loving it and thinking it was too dark and strange. There was just something very different about it. Having not a lot of memory of the movie didn’t deter me from loving this book which serves as a sequel, of sorts, to the movie. The characters are endearing and the art is phenomenal. Can’t wait for the second volume!

For convenience of publishing the 12 issue series has been released as three books of four issues each.

Each book is beautifully presented in oversized hardcover with quality glossy paper which highlights the sumptuous and glorious artwork. It's lush, colourful and draws you into the weird and wonderful world of Thra.

An official sequel to the original film it's well written with two new characters at the heart of the adventure. Thurma, a Fireling girl and Kensho, a Gelfling boy. Can they work together to save two worlds or is everyone doomed and will the Skeksis be back to rule once more?

A quick and immersive read. It was so enjoyable to be back in this fantasy world.

So I’ve wanted to read ‘The Power of The Dark Crystal’ for a couple of months and I finally got to the first volume and going in I knew that this was based on the cancelled sequel and I honestly think this story works so well as a graphic novel! Visually, this is nothing short of breathtaking and the bright, vibrant colours really standout on the page, especially Thurma’s flames. So far I am enjoying all of the characters, Kensho in particular and seeing how the world has become corrupt and elitist has me thinking about what could be in the next volumes. I wouldn’t say this is anything ground breaking but all around it’s very enjoyable and highly recommended for any fan of ‘The Dark Crystal’.

This is a really strong continuation to an already strong first volume! ‘The Power of The Dark Crystal: Volume 2’ greatly builds on the story of the first, whilst also adding new developments and tensions within the characters. Jen, Thurma and Kensho are the stand out characters in this volume as all of them have some kind of internal conflict that they must face and I really enjoyed seeing how their decision impacted the rest of the story. The art style is fantastic as ever and I’m really excited to see how the story ends in the final volume!

I love seeing our favorite characters older and helping Thra thrive again. I love the artwork and it's a good intro to new characters, creatures, species, and regions.

I wish I could have this art style and color palette in my own works, maybe one day. An entertaining sequel and some rising problems get resolved while there is still a lingering conflict. Good read overall.
