This was beautiful - a nice read for when you want a resolved ending for likeable characters. Minus one star for the final sentence of the book.

Leest lekker door! Over een Bengaalse en haar leven in Londen, tussen haar man, kinderen en de grote boze buitenwereld.

Honestly this book was a bit of a drag.
The overall plot I liked and I also liked the window into the lives of every day people being in arranged marriage, ESL migrants, the dynamics of being a minority faith in a new country you’re trying to call home - on paper this is interesting!
But I honestly found almost all of the characters so unlikable and unrelatable. The only character I liked and rooted for was the sister and she technically wasn’t even properly in the book.
I can see why it was nominated for such a prestigious literary prize but I had to force myself to finish it.

This book is much better than I expected. For some reason, I thought this book would be very depressing but I did not find the book sad. The book is about two sisters. One goes to England for an arranged marriage. The other sister stays in Bangladesh.

Enjoyed it a lot and was meaningful to read given the location. Found the ending a bit far fetched.
