Nice change of pace. I had fun hearing about the adventures of animal wranglers, survivalists, and television producers whose lives are so different from mine. However, I don't feel very emotionally attached and didn't have my mind blown. Entertaining read though. Nice to mix it up.

This was a perfect audiobook for a family car trip. The characters are wacky, situations get weird and the writing is off-beat enough to keep everyone laughing.

Amusing and would make a great movie!
Derek was hilarious as "survivalist", and Mickey was just plain cool. Wahoo and Tuna spunky (and good role models for young readers)

"Mickey Cray had been out of work ever since a dead iguana fell from a palm tree and hit him on the head" (Hiaasen 1). This is one of the best first lines that I've read to date. Chomp is a light-hearted fun read that leaves you laughing.

Another in Hiaasen's series of plucky, environmentally conscious teens/tweens saving the day with the help of one or more like minded adults. This one has as the main villains a reality TV survivalist who is really a fake and an alcoholic father. Light entertainment with some suspense and a good bit of humor mixed in.

3.5 stars. It was a cute and entertaining book. There was a lot of back and forth character details in some scenes that didn't make much sense at times, but overall it was a cute story.
