People like us
are dragons
with clipped wings,

but like Toothless
with his prosthetic tail fin,
we still find

so many ways

to

fly.

i have nothing smart to say about this book but reading it made me very happy :)

I read this middle grade book in order to complete a category on a reading bingo challenge I am doing for 2024. It was FANTASTIC. It’s written in prose so it is a quick read but it is so clever and interesting—I read it in one sitting. The author is neurodivergent as is the main character, so the voice of Selah reads very authentic.

Selah has very been one to share how she feels, because what she feels isn’t “normal,” but then she finds poetry and we get to follow her journey of self-discovery and advocacy through her poetic journal.
