This book was very hard for me to get into. In fact, I put it down several times - or rather I shelved it on my Kindle DNF shelf more than once and opted for other fantasy fae reads before going back time and time again. So, in short, this book to way to long to finish due to it just not capturing my attention.

I think it is the epitome of fanfiction spin offs of other well-known fantasy fiction. I do think the author has potential to do something great, however, this book fell a bit flat.

I am hoping that Craven gives it another go.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Good concept, but very sloppy.

So, the beginning was.. kind of interesting.. she thought she was crazy. Had even spent time in an institution and was going back to school. Which is a decent start, but her headspace was so confusing and hard to grasp. The beginning of the book should suck you into that world. Make you wanna be there, this didn’t.

Then at the first palace, everything seems great. There is literally no hint that the palace is an evil place. It has to be mentioned multiple times.

And then the ending was.. kind of horrible.. she finds out who she really is, but also the other queens daughter was kidnapped... and it ends on a happy note.. it should have ended with Brea wanting to help fight to bring the daughter back home.

She is not a strong character at all and I feel that is a big reason why this book isn’t the greatest.

Book one is an engaging paranormal teen/ new adult, coming of age, adventure and mystery read. Some situations or ideas presented in this story may make some readers uncomfortable (politics and manipulation, violence, abuses, drug use, F/F, M/M, f/m/bi ). I look forward to finding the answers to the following questions along with Brea and the rest of the characters.

Might I also add the fact that this is not the paranormal fantasy, I was expecting, instead it is a book about mental health.

The beginning was just sad. Things picked up in chapter 4. FMC just went along with things instead of insisting her questions be answered. She finally starts to wake up when forced into a situation she just couldn't talk herself into. This puts her on the path of answers and things pick up.
I was able to figure out the big secret but that don't take from the story. I will read the next.

This was...bad. The first half of the book was giving pick me and "my mom sold me to one direction" (iykyk) the premise was good so this was disappointing and definitely not "amazeballs"

Well this title rings true to its name. So many stories leave you to believe that Fae can't lie but what happens when the can and it's not just pretty tricks of words. Brea seems to have never had it is and it doesn't seem like its about to change when she is thrown into the fantasy world. Who to trust the broody and handsome or the gruff and sweet. It seems everyone has the own agenda but who is really looking after her. Great plot normally I see something coming but I was thrown for a look the whole book. So could be a one day read tool me two but that's cause a little take attention. Excited for the next part.
