Some helpful stuff but nothing too profound or overwhelming. Would be a great book to give to a choir or band.

We chose this book as our last bible study for 2018. It is a short book, only 7 chapters plus a couple bonus features. The book walks you through the biblical mandate of worship and how singing isn't limited to those who can do it well. While the Getty's are clear in the importance of congregational singing, their words don't bring shame or guilt. Instead, they show us just how marvelous God is and how we can better respond. The book brought a lot of reflection, encouragement, and even some gentle conviction to do better in this area of my spiritual life.

The only issue I had was with the discussion questions. A lot of them felt awkward to actually discuss in a group setting in the later chapters. The content of the chapters did provide enough for us to discuss though.

Sing! is a spiritual growth book by Keith and Kristyn Getty. I think the authors wrote this book because of the churches much diversity in music. They want us to remember to worship God through music whether individually or corporately. While each generation brings in new music we must also remember the music of generations past.

This is a small hardcover book that has been endorsed by many people, several of which are well known. It is a book intended to be helpful for individual use and community discussion. There are questions at the end of each chapter to reflect on. Bible verses teach us to make music with instruments as well as our voices (see Psalm 98:4-9)

The first 3 chapters tell us of people in the Bible who sang to God. Chapters 4-7 tell us ways to incorporate singing. At the close of the book, there are Bonus Tracks written especially for different leaders in the church. Examples are musicians, pastors, and songwriters.

I wanted to read this book because music is my favorite way to worship God. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to worship God by singing, no matter how they sound. True worship comes from the heart.
