This book is the definition of don't judge a book by its cover...or its title. I loved this book and its sex-positive and feminist themes and its discussions around consent. I think if you're a fan of Katee Robert's romance books, you'll really enjoy this book.

I absolutely loved our main characters. Gideon is the biggest simp from the beginning of the book, which is one of my favorite things in a romance. I'll admit that I'm a fan of the insta-love and fated mates trope. If you're also a fan of these tropes, I think this book does both of them well. However, even if you're not the biggest insta-love fan, I think you might enjoy this book because it has great discussions about what is important in compatibility, and I love how Gideon and Rose come to care for each other beyond their initial attraction.

Rose herself is an amazing heroine. I loved seeing her navigate recovering from her past toxic relationship and how she navigates feelings of shame around expressing her sexuality. She's a very confident and reflective main character, and I loved seeing her growth in the book. I also loved that it felt like her character arc could've happened without Gideon. He helps her in her path toward reclaiming herself, her thoughts, and her desires after her previous toxic relationship. However, much of Rose's growth comes from her own self-discovery. She isn't reliant on anyone to save her, which is refreshing to see in a romance heroine.

My only issues with this book were with the plot. It was a very predictable romance, which doesn't bother me but also doesn't excite me. However, it was still enjoyable. The tropes, dialogue, and smut were all written extremely well. Also, there was a plot with Gideon's job that seemed extraneous to the story. It didn't take up too much space in the story, and I didn't find it distracting. But, I also think it didn't need to exist.

If you're wary to read this book and think it's "just not your thing," I'd give this book a chance. I hated the cover, but I absolutely loved the romance and themes found inside.

I loved this book so much! It was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. Our extra appendages beau, Giddeon, is the sweetest possessive alpha male you'll ever meet. If you listen to the audible version, Nadia Day's performance is amazing but perhaps a little spicy around prying ears (but that's just the nature of this book). If you're looking for a new comfort read look no further than this sweet monster romance!
