The response I got from everyone I told that I was reading a book about fungi was a laugh. In 5-10 years fungi very well may be on the way to solving many of our environmental problems, among many others, and no one will be laughing then. An amazing read!

The work of a lifetime of studies in a book. You can tell the author is very pationated about his subject and it helps you get hooked into this book.

This book is exactly what it sets out to be, a book about the complex relationships between humans and fungi (whether or not humans are aware the relationships exist). The power of this topic as an antidote to climate doomerism really moved me. I walked away from this read with hope for the future of mycology and how humans might expand our relationships with fungi to the betterment of the climate and of our humanity.

I thought I was in the mood for some in-depth nature writing, but I’m not. I’ll come back to this later.
