I want us to be together. Not just friends.

alright i recognize i didn't have high expectations when i started reading this because i knew it was supposed to be a fun read. i mean, it was okay, i guess???

josh and hazel become friends instantly and then they somehow fall into this friendzone and they start double dates which sucks. they keep going on double dates for god's sake JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER

lemme just say

DAMN I HATE TYLER. there, i needed to say it

anyway

besides the whole double dating thing, there was another thing that bothered me: the ending (and the fact that the book felt super rushed somehow). it might be a matter of preference, but still..

there was nothing special about this book, but it was still enjoyable

Why do authors insist on falling back on ending with this trope, it’s so lazy and uncreative!!!!!!!

Josh and Hazel are complete opposites. Hazel is everything Josh is not- She’s quirky, impulsive, and daring while Josh is mellow, careful, and reserved. Despite their awkward first encounter- which included Hazel drunkenly vomiting all over Josh’s shoes, Hazel’s magnetic personality pulls Josh in years later when they meet again. They quickly develop a relationship and go out on dates together. Except NOT together. Instead, these friends set each other up with bad dates ignoring the fact that they might be great together.

I read this so quick I was wanting more when it ended. Christina Lauren does opposites attract in such a refreshing manner with this one. This book illustrates the differences between the two so well. We see Hazel’s relationship with her Mom and Josh’s with his family. The fact that Christina Lauren depicts Josh’s Korean background with such detail was so great to me. The world needs more Asian male leads in fiction- so my hat goes off to both the writers. At times Hazel’s free spirited nature appeared more flighty and immature but maybe that’s my Josh Im coming out? I really enjoyed the dialogue between the two and the hilarity I found during scenes. I loved how charmingly imperfect both these characters were and seeing the progression of their relationship. Would definitely read this one again and probably freak out if this ever became a movie.

Very cute fast listen/ read. I loved Hazel shes funny, care free, loving, etc. I love how she was written. Josh is perfect.

This is a sorta like a second chance romance. They knew each other in college and the universe brought them together a decade later.

I love both characters and I hope you do too.

DNF'ed after 2 chapters. This book is not for me. It's awful. The writing is horrible and so are the characters.
