There is a subplot of a bomb but only one person is injured and they survive but will have scars. There was also a subplot of a corrupt police officer who framed and blackmailed someone for drugs.nataliapassos's review against another edition

First of, One of Us Is Next > One of Us Is Lying.
This book is more relaxed, less tense and suspense than the first one. I really love that this book is not only surrounding the main victims but also other people to avoid any suspicious.
I love that the Bayview Four was also included in this book and omg, Chapter 8 was like "holy shit" and "๐ฉ" and Chapter 31 when Nate and Bronwyn made an appearance was totally ๐ฉ. And I love that they're out of the high school gossip which makes it a lot more amaze because just like Maeve once said
Also this book is very different from all the mysterious and crime book I've read because in this book, there's two mysteries that the characters need to solve.
Also can't wait for the third book, the cliffhanger was leaving me on the very edge of the cliff. There is so much explanations that need to be explained because the cliffhanger literally doesn't make sense why he did it.
And I hope for the One of Us Is Lying TV adaptation will be similar to this. If not almost. Because I want to see the new characters on screen.

That said, I found the book to contain a lot of triggers- the full list will be at the bottom! With my first McManus book, I was oblivious as to how certain topics could affect readers, but I took that lesson to heart whilst reading the sequel. I think McManus likes to put all her teenage characters through a LOT, all in a very short span of time. โ
