RATING: 5 stars

This was like my favorite book from third grade to fifth grade so it's getting five stars lmao.

Reading it again, I can totally see why I loved it so much. The main character, Jessie, is really relatable and reads like a teenager while not being treated like an idiot, even by the adults in the book. The setting? is? so? great? I've never been to Newfoundland and Labrador, but this really makes me want to go on vacation there sometime. I already had the setting in mind from years ago when I read it, so it was really easy getting into this book. Technically it took me ages but I read it over the course of two days lol- those two days were just very far apart?

And the plot is good and interesting while also being really easy to read. I think part of that's because it's middle grade lol and that did sort of make the experience a little worse than a few years ago, but I still loved the book despite that.

I really wish there was more in this book tbh or even that it was a series, but I'm glad I own it now and can re-read it whenever I want to :)

(Also I'm really really hoping this is the end of my insanely long reading slump lol I haven't been able to read anything but fanfic for like three months straight.)
