I was looking for a present for my seven-year-old niece, and this wasn't it.

However, I quite enjoyed the book myself, though it's strange and not entirely clear what the intended audience actually is.

The story is about a family who struggles to make ends meet and it ends up that their children are taken by a rich family that is childless.

It's also about a witch who is given a mission, (eventually), to retrieve those children.

I like the world they're in, that kind of medieval world where there is magic and witches and noblemen and ordinary people with an adventure to be had.  Very European.

I like the characters: the quirks, like the glassblower who makes shapes no one wants to buy, or that people stop at his table to look at his wares but then always buy from his table mate, leaving him almost destitute.  Funny little details that carry the story along.

A strange little tale

It was both compelling and tedious at once. I think I will enjoy remembering it more than I enjoyed reading it.

Jamás se me va a olvidar este libro. Es hermoso. La dinámica de clases, los niños y las lágrimas que salían cuando el vidriero las hacía :')

This was a book I had to read for work as well. I had never heard about it. Judging by the cover and the description on the back of the book i thought I knew what this book was going to be about and I was so wrong!!!! This turned out to be so much better than first anticipated. This book can be read on so many levels and that only adds to the value of the book.

Muy bueno, pero lo pensaría dos veces antes de darselo a mis hijos a leer.

This is a whimsical scandinavian folklore/fairytale that was both sweet an pleasant.
