Weird, pseudo-epistolary format? Check.
Only saying "vampire" at the end of the book? Check.
Basically explicit lesbianism? Check.
A flashback story that spans three chapters in a novella? Cheeeeeeeck.

Great way to kick off this spooky season! A fascinating historical work, and a deeply gay story. Like, however gay you think it is, it's gayer. Nothing short of Carmilla and Laura scissoring could be gayer. Still kinda wish that
Carmilla had successfully turned her into a vampire
, though.

Also, I know Le Fanu was so patting himself on the back for that
Millarca/Mircalla/Carmilla
thing, LOL. Like, wow, anagrams! What a twist.

Anyways, happy Halloween month!

I'm glad to have finally read Carmilla. It was easier to read then I thought a book from 1871 would be, and I was drawn in to Laura's telling of the story.
