perhaps the most stomach-churning gore i’ve ever read, all in the service of some of the best and most biting satire of capitalist excess in literature. patrick bateman is a psycho only america could produce, and this book is a goddamn classic.

Hard to read. I give the author credit for his imagination. Book does get a reaction out of you.

A grotesque critique of capitalism.

You either love it or you hate it. It’s vile and unwavering. One of the few books that made my stomach turn.

The ending totally ruined this for me!

Trigger warning for absolutely everything! I'm not kidding. If you are sensitive to anything, this is not for you. This is highly graphic in language and how the murders were committed.

The writing was excellent. Things that should have been boring and having me getting rid of this book (overly describing what people are wearing), I found myself listening with interest. I found it amazing how one moment I would be repulsed by what Bateman was doing and the next I would be laughing out loud.

Honestly, I don't know if recommend it. If you are able to read violent murders and ok with unsatisfying endings it's all for you. You will definitely get some amazing writing and a flashback to the 80's!
