Well, I gave it a go until 34% and that was it. I got put off early when the main character, Bella hooks up with a match from her dating app. And after noticing that her match is hairier than the wolfman, she still has a one night stand with him -- still hoping he's prince charming. Yikes!

And as her best friend and roommate, Ellie has plans to move out, Bella is full of resentment. That self centered attitude really turned me off. Especially when Ellie becomes engaged.

Bella's desperation and infantile antics really killed it for me with this novel. I'm sure that there are a number of readers out there that will appreciate this sort of storyline. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them. One star.

I received a digital ARC from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley. The review herein is completely my own and contains my honest thoughts and opinions.

Enjoyed this take on rom com / relationships.

Lifelong best friends are truly special. When you love your best friend the way Bella loves Ellie, it’s hard to adjust to changes in their life.

The relationship with their significant other being hard to navigate and the jealousy from sharing their attention.

I have so many mixed feelings here! I absolutely couldn't put this audiobook down, but I also found the protagonist infuriating. All in all, this was a fun play on some classic fairy tale stories. I felt like the redemptive arc was good, and the protagonist (FINALLY) learned her lesson by the end of the book, but boy howdy was it a wild ride. Plus I always love a bookish story, so the publishing house was a fun part of the story for me!

The audio was wonderful, and I would 10/10 recommend the audio to anyone looking to read this book!

Overall, I really like it! Thanks to Netgalley for the advanced copy of this audiobook to review! All thoughts are mine.

Not That Kind of ever after is a mash-up of a fairy tale retelling that warms the heart.
Bella is a secretary at a publishing firm and really she dreams of being a writer, as a hopeless romantic, she is searching for her Prince Charming: but it seems like all the men she meets are the toads.
This book gave me a lot of Bridget Jones Diary & Sex and The City energy. Very flirty, very honest and a little chaotic. The main character Bella is sweet, if not a little much, but I think that is why we are able to like her so much.
This book is highly creative, nearly addictive and one could argue that it may put some of our own dreams into perspective.
