My main takeaway from this novel is a reminder to be grateful of what the generations before may have went through to try and secure a freer and more prosperous  life for us in the present.

My favorite part was Jaya exploring India and getting to know the people who lived there. My least favorite part was Jaya feeling sorry for herself. If you get bogged down in the first 3 chapters, hold out for the rest, it majorly changes focus.
