My #1 book of 2022 so far!
Thank you to my friend Marjorie for recommending it and the Fort Meyer's airport for stocking it.
This book is a masterpiece! You should pick it up ASAP.
I loved the format and pacing. Each chapter alternates between a different character's POV. Interspersed are also chapters where the wife is writing a "secret" letter to her husband around the time of their anniversary -- and somewhat around the theme of each year's traditional gift (tin, silk, paper, etc.)
You begin with a blank canvas, and with each chapter the mosaic is slowly filled in. By the time the final pieces were coming into focus I was internally screaming!!! Initially it is fairly mundane and the most interesting aspect is seeing events from different characters' perspectives. The characters start to make statements that are clearly ambiguous and make you think "hmmmm". I was definitely alternating between "oh he's going to kill her" and "but maybe she'll kill him first". I am such a simpleton haha. The way the story unravels is soooo mind blowing. So many "wait WHAT" moments. A masterpiece!

Probably I would have liked this more if I read "with my eyes" instead of only listening the audiobook!
