It was soo slow. The action and twists didn’t really happen until the last 30 pages, and the build up wasn’t all that suspenseful. I didn’t like any of the main characters but I think that was the point. THE DOG IS FINE!! This book definitely had potential but fell pretty flat

This was a huge disappointment. I really thought I would like this one.  I had heard so many good things about this book going into it, and maybe that is my downfall.

I thought the letters were interesting, watching their lives fall apart you could say. I didn't really care about the present time in the chapel. I didn't think the story was scary or thrilling in anyway. The plot twist was interesting, but that just it. I didn't want a book that was just interesting. I wanted a thriller that made me sit on the edge of my seat. I wanted a book that I couldn't put down. This book wasn't that.

I didn't guess the plot twist at the end, but I didn't really care. I wasn't invested in the story. I just felt like this book was such a flop.

This was a pretty twisty mystery that did surprise me multiple times. I liked the format with the multiple POVs and also the uncertainty with each of the POVs. It was hard to pinpoint every single thing from the start, which was nice for a mystery.

Near the end I did feel like there might have been an extra chapter or two that were not needed for me but I do appreciate the added information they provided.

I'd rather not say much about the plot but if you like mysteries about writers and novels then this might be for you. I also enjoyed the winter setting in a remote chapel and the epistolary format for some of the chapters.
