Absolutely loved it. Hua Cheng and Xie Lian are adorable. They have my heart. I love the way they implicitly trust each other no matter what. It's so rare in fiction nowadays to find leads with such an unshakable trust in each other. No third-act breakup because of pointless drama. They are there for each other and will always be. The tension and separatin comes from external situations and plot devices which I love.
The book-long flashbacks were annoying at times as a first read, especially when the information had already been given to us and I couldn't wait to get back to the present.(if they were sprinkled in it would have been more digestible yet I understand the decision behind grouping them). I still love them though and appreciated them way more in my re-read as I didn't have the urge to come back to the present as I already knew what was going to happen.

being extremely basic with the quote here, but there are reasons why it is so popular!!!
Xie Lian’s fall from grace is absolutely devastating, the way he went from being the darling of the heavens to a disgraced god who lost everything just because he wanted to help his people survive… was he definitely kind of spoiled as a child? of course, but in no way did he deserve his horrible fate
However, this cruelty makes it even more incredible how in the end he always chose to be kind instead of forsaking people. He really lived 800 years in loneliness, was buried alive for like 100 of them, and still ended up being one of the kindest people in the heavenly realm.
Meeting Hua Cheng was so important for him, in him he finally found a person who was willing to stay with him through everything and loved him, not only as a god, but also as a person. They compliment each other so well.

I adore this book, I’ve reread it so many times that I can’t even keep track.
I love getting to know the characters and on rereads the clues to the different relationships are so so obvious (TT)
This book has the most funny moments but also the most heartbreaking and I wish the world for the characters (I am very attached)💔

后颈也很大。很大很大。爱情太美好了哈哈哈哈哈。相比之下虽然比较喜欢魔道，但也是很喜欢这本的。
这本还挺长的，而且很多配角的故事虽然挺有意思的但其实和主角并没有太大关系（有时候也会觉得，啊？这么巧？啊？这有谁？啊？为什么要知道他的backstory?），而是和这本书的theme有关就导致对很多配角影响没有那么深刻（配角里最喜欢权一真和引玉哈哈哈哈）。但也不太影响我的观感。花怜刻画的太太美好了。。
花怜的感情真的。。单看之间任何一句话其实都很肉麻，很中二。但！是！放在他们两身上我就绝的“啊！这才是爱情该有的样子啊！” 第一次读完一本书我会开始想，我如何在现实生活了，在自己的感情里找那种感觉。读完也很伤心因为。。这种感情（隔壁的13年也是），基本觉得不可能出现在现实生活里的。一个人不会，也不该（我自私 isorry) 为了另一个人付出那么多。真实情况可能就是付出了，被辜负了。或者付出了，但发现那个人真的没有那么好。。但书里就不一样啊！付出有回报！那个人真的值得！爱情啊！！！！

Wonderful story with compelling characters, excellent plot that will make you cry, laugh and think. It gets a big slow in parts and tests your patience but once you get over them everything is so worth it. The romance is so dreamy, the main philosophy and social commentary was so very wise. Enjoyed reading it a lot over the last couple of months.
