This book is truly Epic, in all senses of the word. It’s a Lot, but so worth the time investment to make it through all five volumes. The main characters, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are so sweet and lovable and funny together. I really enjoyed MXTX’s humor in this. And the story was a sweeping epic full of magic and mystery and world-ending calamities and ghosts and gods and ordinary human failure. I honestly can’t recommend this book enough.

this knocked the wind out of me. the romance was so well done, and the characters were all so loveable. the writing was weird in places because i read a fan translation and the author hasn’t finished editing to her satisfaction, but the plot and characters MORE than made up for it.
