Age-gap, forbidden, dad’s best friend. Had all the makings for an excellent read but it it fell a bit short for me because I could not figure out why these two liked each other outside of attraction. Other than that it was a fun read.

Super steamy, large age gap (17 years), taboo romance! Kandy and Cane are the characters and Cane is her dad’s best friend. Slow burn, so angsty, which is my favorite!! I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2 which comes out in a few weeks. Cliffhanger!! 💕

2.5 I think I’m just not super into age gap romances. I don’t think I’ll be continuing. The writing style also wasn’t for me. Some positives were that it was quick and steamy though!

OBSESSED. I could not put this book down. The tension between Cane and Kandy is so thick that I couldn’t stop reading it.

Kandy has been in love with her dad’s best friend for 9 years and that tension finally snaps when she makes her move. Cane is so deeply involved with her family that this would destroy it, but these two can’t seem to stop.

Oh my this man. Swoon. Kandy is so determined to have him
but he tries so hard to resist. After a weekend away together they both feel like they can’t walk away. But then they are forced to... This cliffhanger hurt … so that’s why I’m diving right into the next book.

Y'all this book had me in a puddle listening to the audiobook at work. Lord have mercy! This was spicy.

This is a steamy dad's best friend romance. Mr. Cane and Kandy (LOL) were fire together. Book 1 ends on a cliffy....that even my 'terrible at finishing series' heart may jump right into.

My first Shanora Williams book. It most definitely will not be my last.

I wanted an easy but catching read, and thought a forbidden love story was a perfect fit. Man was I wrong.

Firstly, if remembering details about Your Own main character is troublesome, just don’t write them..:
- “‘September 8th, 2009’ Diary, I turned 13 today.”
- In her diary on “May 14th, 2017”, she writes about her day, during which she tells Cane “I’m eighteen, which is way past puberty.”

... I know it’s 2020 and we all have lockdown-brains at the moment, but I’m pretty sure My math isn’t the one that’s off here..?

Then again with the dates a little later in the book..: “I was eighteen now. Had been since September 23rd.” - Her birthday was September 8th last time I checked...

These are details I would try my best to ignore if the rest of the book kept to a higher standard, which in my opinion it didn’t. There wasn’t much of an actual story, and the characters weren’t particularly impressive either.

This just wasn’t a good fit for me I guess.
