proven to help with art-block (:

edit: part of the summary for the second book in this series is so perfect: "In these stories, the invitation that the world extends doesn't exist separately from the eyes which see it and the imagination that conceives it. In other words, Sato's way of seeing actively participates in creating the beauty that he sees."

2022 Mildred L. Batchelder Award honor book for best translated children’s books. This one is imaginative and surreal and quite lovely.

My favorite children’s book. The soft illustrations and vignette-style narration create such a sense of whimsy that makes me want to be part of that world. Every Sato book that is released is a joy for the imagination.
