So I had SEVERAL problems with this book.
Firstly, the blatant Copaganda. The MC is a cop. The author also suggests that the police are the be all and end all of morality - one of the MCs, Levi, consistently says that only the police can decide who to punish and how to punish.
The fact that the killer is the vigilante type really doesn't help with this. The book tries to make it as though the people he killed didn't deserve to die, even though they certainly did (abuser, r*pist, etc). She does attempt to make the cops seem decent, but that is by making them go to therapy and having Asian people in the force. Not very convincing.
Secondly, the military propaganda, even though it is less out there. Basically, the other MC, Dominic, served in Afghanistan or Iraq (maybe both but idk which one). And he obviously is proud of it, because he has a fucking tattoo of his regiment name/number.
And the thing that made the finally drop this was the fact that Levi is buddies with a former IDF soldier. As someone who is characterised as caring for others lives, especially children
as he literally killed a man using a child as a human shield, in order to protect him.
It seems a little hypocritical for him to associate himself with an IDF soldier. The guys who enforce the apartheid regime in Israel.

It's the fact that the author took two of the worst types of people - Zionist and American soldier - and made them the epitome of morality. That really pissed me off.
