[3.5 Stars] Good, grotesque, and mysteriously horrifying. However, it did feel a bit contrived. Perhaps because it dragged on a little too long? I find Ito does better when he considers shorter bites of story instead of stretching a story across multiple volumes. Uzumaki’s final third suffers from that “stretching” just like this entire work does. The more you pick at the story, the more you’re taken out of the horror and mystery. It just starts to be grotesque nonsense. This was still good. It didn’t get to that nonsense phase, but it was close...
I also wish it focused a little more on the psychological horrors of what was happening and a little less on the body horror. If that was balanced, this would have been much better. Overall, an interesting read for Halloween!

Just plain weird. The art is memorable in that way only Junji Ito can make. As disturbing as it could be, I couldn’t help but laugh. The premise is so absurd it dampened the horror of it all. Worth a read for just how bonkers it gets, but there’s not much else to it.
Graphic: Animal death and Body horror
Moderate: Blood

This was great. Some Junji Ito in time for Halloween. I just love how inventive the concept is. It’s great. I will not spoil things but just how everything works. I just love the mind that would come up with that. The creepy art style carries it through.
