I really enjoyed this one! It pulled me in from beginning to end with this one pretty much picking up after the last one left off. We get to see Rory continuing to explore her Fearmancer parents' property as she is trying to figure out all the puzzle pieces of who is after her and wanting to cause her harm with the hints that she got from her professor/mentor that just died/murdered. Things are changing with the other Scions so she is dealing with that and figuring out how genuine that is how much she trusts it and them after what they have done to her. She is back for the summer term and the summer project which she doesn't exactly agree with so she finds a way to be a part of it but to be a positive influence for the Naries. I like that she sticks to her principals and how she sees things. Her initial goal of destroying the school and turning everything over to the Joymancers is getting a little more cloudy though as she learns that she is capable of changing peoples perspectives and not everything about Fearmancers is evil and wrong and cruel. She is also learning that the Joymancers might not have always done things the right way in their dealings with the Fearmancers. That line continues to blur and it will be interesting to see how Rory changes and deals with that. I love her moral compass and the way that she lives that out and how it affects the people around her. She has changed the way that the other Scions have seen things by just being her and expressing her opinions. She has both Connor and Jude changing in this one. I loved the development with the boys this time around. Jude, Connor, Declan and Malcolm all have significant growth that they dealing with as their perspectives get challenged and they start seeing things differently rather than how they were told things were. I loved that development this time around and am really excited to see how that continues in the next book. Big twist at the end and it will be very interesting to see how that plays out and changes things and brings the Scions together in the next one! Can't wait to start it!
The narrators did a fantastic job with the characters personalities and bringing them to life in the story. Very well done.
