I loved this book so much. It had some really great elements such as romance, action, and well developed plot. I loved the concept of the Kejari and how it brought the two main characters together. I really liked how complex each character was. Their personalities had many layers which helped the reader connect to the characters in a more personal way.
The relationship between Oraya and her father was also great. I liked how it displayed how contradicting a father-relationship really is. I also appreciated how they didn’t make her dad all mushy and sappy but still loving because I feel like it’s very true to his character.
The world building was fantastic as well. It’s not just a romance book, it has amazing plot and debt.
The main character was so strong and badass while still allowing her to have tender moments. I think their relationship was so cute. He was tender which her when she needed it but they still had an amazing tension. LITERALLY NOTHING COULD HAVE PREPARED ME FOR THE PLOT TWIST LIKE IT WAS ACTUALLY SO CRAZY.
This book is by far my top 2023 read I loved it so much and will definitely be rereading it!❤️

The only reason it’s not a 5 star is that I would have loved a bit more background on the different houses & magic systems but it is in no way lacking and doesn’t confuse the story!
I love Oraya and her story, I love the enemies to lovers trope and chosen one trope too! The challenges faced by her were cruel and relentless and I loved reading about a feisty human woman fighting against the odds!
The ending was brilliant and I can’t wait to start book 2!
