This is a very lighthearted, middle-grade fantasy novel. It is fun, fast-paced, and has a diverse cast of characters that I loved. Needless to say, it did fall into a few tropes from time to time. I found that the dialogue was pretty cheesy every now and then, but considering this novel is targeted at a pretty young audience, it isn't as much of an issue as it would be. The characters were decently fleshed out, and the writing and story were both easy to get into and fast, which made the novel a lot more fun. If I had read this at the age range targeted from this book, I know for a fact that I would've fallen in love with this series; I think this series has a lot of promise, so I plan on continuing with it.

I really enjoyed reading about this adaptation of Chinese mythology! I don’t know quite how accurate it was, but the story was very entertaining

It was hard for me to get into it, but if you like super heroes then you might like this book.

Good story if you're mostly looking for action-y and superpowered teens stuff and you're not too fussy about character development.

Honestly I couldn’t really get into this. I also have no idea what is going on. I don’t remember a single thing and have basically zoned out the entire time while listening. This is also a book I have had very little desire to read so I think me and the book are just going to part ways.

Interesting take on powers given to someone who really has no clue what to do but rises to the challenge. Obviously Stan Lee's style in the writing is there. In a way I'm reminded of Pete Parker by Steven Lee though his problems are a bit more extreme since he has to deal with a powerful mad man who was willing to kill people to hide a mistake he made before he even had mystic powers.

Not something anyone wants to deal with more so a disband a of people who didn't ask for powers and have no combat training whatsoever yet can they come together to stop Maxwell or will they have to conform to him to stay alive? Is there more to it all than what Jasmine has said? Is it even possible for random individuals to make a team and use powers of the Chinese Zodiac to stop a bad guy?
