I was surprised by the emotional reaction that I had to this book, but I think that affirms all the more why I am glad that I read it. The messages that we all receive about monogamy and infidelity are so ingrained into our lives that even without having ever been in a romantic relationships, I was feeling strong feelings reading the stories of the author's therapy sessions. Take care of yourself while reading, but also remain open to what you can learn. This book is not prescriptive; it isn't telling us to throw away the handbook on monogamy, but to be open to what it can look like through a new lens. It is interesting and scary to think about what could be, but empowering to consider a new narrative of love and relationships that makes us all feel more connected and offers more understanding.
