Reading this made me want to be better, a better writer, a better daughter, a better person.
And it did things to my heart, sad wonderful things.

I can't see anything else one could ask of a book, but if there is , I assure you this book will have it, Because this, like many of Gemmell's works, is one of the ones. The books that remind you why you started reading in the first place. The books that remind you why you should never stop.

Whilst the writing certainly isn't the finest you'll ever see, the characters are definitely up there with the best. School teacher Alterith Shaddler, who transforms himself from petty minded pedant into a crusader for the people, is an unlikely but utterly convincing hero. In a book packed to the rafters with musclebound warriors, his attempts to fight the system with intelligence and knowledge make a refreshing change.

Adjoa Andoh excellent.

Always a sucker for Mr Gemmell and his tearjerker episodes!

Must leave a gap before, finishing the series.

This book is the third in the series of Rigante novels, but I read it without reading the first two. It was not an issue, as the first two books take place 800 years before this one. The sequel "Stormrider", however, is a direct sequel, so know that not all the action is tied up in the conclusion of "Ravenheart".

This is the third novel of Gemmell's that I have read (after "Dark Moon" and "Legend"), and he is quickly becoming my new favorite fantasy author.

Jesus.
This broke my heart and took my breath and killed me again and again and again, then made me feel alive and shattered me.
Thanks for ever existing, Sir.
