I enjoyed this book a lot! At first, I was a bit put off by the writing style, which uses long and drawn-out sentences. This occurs especially when describing environments, and it was quite annoying in the beginning. As the story progressed, however, I quickly found myself immersed in the world and invested in the lives of these characters. The people in the book are well-thought out and the dialogues and thoughts feel natural. The characters were likeable and the story draws you right in. Even though it's not perfect, I would highly recommend this book!

It was pretty cliche and the plot was pretty predictable. However, reading it still gave me butterflies in the stomach like how a kdrama would. It almost felt like a kdrama but less intense.

XOXO is one of the most adorable romances I have had the pleasure of reading this year, and it dragged me out of a book slump so please give it some love.

Plot summary:
Jenny, a Cello prodigy, has one bad critique and decides, with the advice of her uncle, to live a little. After her shift she runs into Jaewoo, a mysterious boy who she ends up spending a glorious evening with in LA’s Koreatown before he disappears.

When a shock call requires her to fly to Korea and attend a high profile Seoul school, she runs into Jaewoo once more…and it turns out he is a Kpop star, with a no dating rule included.

As they become closer can they hide their feelings from themselves, and the press, for much longer?

Review:
Plot and World Building – This was a beautiful story, the plot was fantastic and kept me guessing at every turn. I have genuinely always wanted to visit Seoul and my god the descriptions of it within this book were amazing and I wished I was actually there. It was Kdrama worthy! Also I love that the Author released a Kpop playlist on social media to use alongside the book- it made my little fangirl heart so happy.

Overall the pacing of the story was really quite varied, predominantly fast, and it worked well for the plot.

Characters and Development- Jenny is a genuinely beautiful soul. Her kindness and willingness to believe the best in people is amazing, her sass is outstanding and her development is one of the best I have seen in a while.

Jaewoo was an intriguing love interest, and his slow burn of a development as he slowly opened up to Jenny left me intrigued and personally he is being added to my book boyfriends list as he is just adorable.

The romance was swoon worthy, it was just beautifully built up and when it finally happened I had a fangirl moment.

All of the side characters within this story had a fantastic introduction, development and all contributed to the story, which was a pleasure to see.

Final Thoughts:
A beautifully delivered YA contemporary romance for anyone with a love of KPOP and KDrama’s.

That was definitely too ya for me. I still read a lot of this genre but mainly fantasy and this contemporary romance was just too cheesy and shallow. I missed in-depth characterization, reading about consequences regarding the characters' actions and did not like the fact that all characters - even the mcs - were interchangeable.
