It was an enjoyable 4 hours but it wasn't great. Too many changes to the story and Dorothy comes off a little spoilt at times.

Having never read any of the Oz books, and having heard that the movie was not a whole lot like the book, I had no idea what I was going to find. What I found was a fairly readable short book that was a lot like the movie. Sure there was no singing and the flying monkeys weren't evil. But pretty much Dorothy and Toto and the Scarecrow and the Tinman and the Lion and the Wizard were there intact. And the field of poppys and the town of china.

I can't say that I was blown away by this, but as an original work that other works are derived from, it was pretty good.
