I loved this book. Locked room mystery on a spaceship with clones. The start was a bit slow, but it built momentum into a really interesting, fun book. (I hope there's a sequel.)

I really liked this one. The multiple POV was done well and didn't feel jarring to switch between characters. It felt more murder mystery than horror for me but was still an awesome read. Really cool concept and world building.

A space thriller revolving around clones. check.
Creepy and mysterious murders. Check.
AI with questionable intentions. Check.

what more could you possibly ask from a book?

It's is one of the most orginal stories I have read in a while. It has well written  characters, very interesting world building and a story that is unlike anything I have ever read. I love when authors go an extra mile and include religion, politics and other tiny details to make their world seem more real, complex and intricate.

This book was a bird eye view of how people would lose their mind and moral compass, if someone announced one day that cloning could be done. There would definitely be serious religious uprisings against the clones, world politics would change so would the definition of war. I mean how can you kill when nobody can stay dead for long?

Ending was satisfactory. It wasn't absolutely shocking but I am pretty satisfied with how things wrapped up. The major twist we got towards the end of the book regarding the AI was a good one.

Overall, an interesting read. Sci-fi lovers and altered carbon fans should definitely check this one out.

Holy fucking shit. That was a wild ride. Absolutely incredible. The author dropped some breadcrumbs that in retrospect are more like whole loaves, but that were unrecognizable without more context. Amazing. No notes.

Readers might also enjoy Becky Chambers' Wayfarers series (semi-similar content, vastly different vibes) and Altered Carbon (book or show).

This story felt so derivative of Battlestar Galactica, the Expanse, Across the Universe, and a host of other sci-fi/future books in which clones exist. In fact, while I was reading this we started watching Altered Carbon (Netflix) and I wondered if Altered Carbon was, in fact, based on this book! (It is not.) So while I liked the premise--clones need to solve the mystery of their own murders--overall it never quite gripped me as something new or different. It was okay! I didn't dislike it, but I didn't like it all that much, either.

The author reads the audiobook and she's very good.

A locked room murder mystery with clones in space! Six newly hatched clones wake up on a ship in deep space and have to in essence solve their previous selves’ murders. Their original mission was to journey to a distant planet and begin populating it with the humans currently in cryogenic storage on their ship, but now that the whole crew has turned up dead, the mission and their lives are in jeopardy. Further complicating matters is the fact that the crewmembers are convicted criminals with secret pasts. I believe “Shut up and take my money” is the only proper response to a plot setup that awesome.
