Perhaps the powerful, emotional response I had to this graphic novel relates to the fact that I am confronting a similar situation with a aging parents, a summer home and siblings. We were privledged enough to be a family that purchased a 2nd home and spent many Summers enjoying our time there but now a reckoning is coming.

While my shared experience perhaps enhances my reaction to the story there are beautiful and universal, powerful emotional truths that will resonate for all readers. The magnificent, deceptively simple story combined with the clean, elegant, cinematic framing / page composition all served to remind me to appreciate all of the moments I have and cherish the people in my life... even the ones who make this a challenge.

Still just as beautiful of a book as the first time I read it - still one of my all-time favorite graphic novels and probably will be forever.

Personal story of a family after the death of their father centered around the setting of their old vacation home.

Flashbacks, memories and a relaxed art style. Some panels were a bit confusing to read in the correct order but a very enjoyable read.
