We got a happy ending!! Rooney, like always, does a great job of showing the messy, tangled relationships of wandering adolescents – there was a lot to be said reading between the lines. If you’ve never read any of Sally Rooney’s work, I wouldn’t start here.
I wish there was more character development from most of the main characters (Felix to be exact!!!) but it was still interesting to see their lives play out and orbit around each other. The themes of faith and Christianity didn’t seem to resonate with me and are the most unmemorable parts of the book. This was still a good read if you’ve read Rooney’s other books – but not the best.

i wasn’t a fan of normal people, but really wanted to give rooney another try. i am glad i did! a thoughtful exploration of what it is to be human, and the importance of what connections mean to us.

I absolutely loved Normal People & thought Conversations with Friends was OK - this book I truly had to fight to get through. It was SO boring to me. The only character I thought was interesting was Eileen, and even then I found myself completely skipping over the email chapters.
