Thoroughly enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end and it was so hard to put down. It has so many great elements, well written, suspense, romance, and even educational. A great story into the forgery of Jewish documents of WWII to help save countless lives. My only negatives were with the mothers character, her personality became annoying to me, and then some predictability towards the end.

I liked this book, but couldn’t shake the feeling I’d read it before. Then it occurred to me. Many years ago I’d read Lest Innocent Blood Be Shed: The Story of the Village of Le Chambon and How Goodness Happened There by Phillip Hallie. This is that story fictionalized. I probably would have enjoyed it more if that feeling hadn’t kept popping up over and over again with the different parts of the story. That said, the author kept her story sharp. She focused on our main character “Eva” and did a great job giving just enough story narrative time to support the other characters without losing our main character.

It was the Hallmark movie version of WWII, and rather predictable. But it was enjoyable nonetheless...just like a Hallmark movie

The premise of this book was very intriguing, however I found myself very disappointed in the story as a whole. I felt the strongest parts of the book was telling the process of the forgers and how they were able to duplicate the documents and the way the children's identities were noted with their real names and the ones on their forged documents. I liked Eva, although she was extremely naïve. I was hoping for a better storyline for her and Remy, and the ending seemed unfinished and rushed. This had the potential to really explore the children and see that all the work they did was worth it by trying to find the children.

This was fairly interesting, & I appreciated the main character’s growth—overall, it was a fine book, I didn’t have particularly strong feelings about it

Moving historical fiction set against the backdrop off occupied France during WWII.
