This was a great follow up for Lily Menon's debut romance. It was cute and I enjoyed the full cast of characters as well as the friends to lovers chemistry of the two main characters.
Unfortunately I thought the book lacked the build in tension that usually is required with friends to lovers. There wasn't a tipping point that led to Lyric and Kian realizing they're in love/like each other as more than friends. That I think would have given this book the edge it needed to be incredibly addicting.
I also found it a bit weird that their "friendship" started when Lyric got into undergrad at age 16 and Kian was either 20/21. And the implication later on that Kian had thought about her in a romantic/sexual way was deeply unnerving because she would have been underage for a whole 3 years of their friendship. All of that was very much OOF for me. But they did really only get intimate and romantic in the time period of the book (ages 24 and 28).
Overall, it was fine.
