Murder? Check. Monkey cults? Check. Cryptic ceremonies? Check. Lesbians? Check. The weirdest book I think I have ever read? Most definitely.

It was good, but didn't necessarily have that wow factor I was hoping it would. Still an enjoyable read!

Every one has heard of Florida Man, Jamie is Florida Woman. She went on a weird little spree that involved tearing hundreds of dollars off the wall of the Tiki Hut while drunk on tequila. There was a pelican involved too. All told, pretty tame compared to real Florida Man stories.

She's put on house arrest but ends up getting a deal to work off her time at Atlas, a monkey sanctuary. Getting vibes from Tiger King yet?

She meets the women of Atlas, who are rather hippy dippy but in a way that I would be immediately wary of, but not Jamie! She's desperate for attention and love so she jumps right in with "Let me help you feed the monkeys! Let me help cook! Let me help sacrifice at an alter! LOVE ME!" WTF? Atlas is very much not the cute monkey rescue center.

This was a decent book. Definitely a quick read but I couldn't like any of the characters and I know I was supposed to like Jamie :) Sorry, Jamie.

So slow. Endless days and nothing happening. It had so much potential in the premise but it took so long to get to the point I got bored and started skipping ahead.

A woman serves a kind of house arrest in a monkey sanctuary that turns out to be more like a sort of cult. The story is well told and the important details are revealed at just the right points to keep you hooked and wanting to read more. It's not exactly laugh our loud funny but has comic moments and is certainly entertaining enough.

This would have been so great if it had been campier, but alas. It is supposed to be a mystery, but the characters are parodies.
