2.5 stars. I thought this book was about someone quitting Google and then working somewhere else. Instead it's about what happens after Google, as in the next big thing.

Notes:

All wealth is basically a product of long-term investment based on knowledge and discovery.

Nothing helps you understand something like investing in it or having skin in the game.
The way you measure value expenditure is look at value of time.

The author really went into Bitcoin and I am still lost and needed to be explained to me like I'm a five-year-old.

"Life After Google" is fascinating and very well-written. There is not one wasted sentence in this book. It is quite information dense, which made it a fairly slow read for me as I am not very well versed in tech. There are enough good observations in this book that I will probably read it again.

Note: There is a glossary at the end of this book that I only discovered upon finishing. I would recommend reading that first.

There was a lot I enjoyed about this book. The history of computer science and the current state of technology was very interesting. I did feel like the book focused more on the past when it comes to technology and less on the future which is what I was expecting based on the title. It was at times a bit slow but overall an interesting deep dive on tech and the blockchain.

Almost a 4, it does a pretty good job of trying to sound unbiased but definitely leans in the favor of Bitcoin.

Overall some great history facts about the world before crypto and things to consider when making a new currency.

Mind blowing. Although writing style was very different from from what I expected. George became poet at many instances which was annoying to me. Rest was good.

This is not a thrilling read but I found it interesting. Gilder's writing style is surprisingly prolific for a technology expert, which is great! I understood most of what he said, but those that are less familiar with science and technology could struggle a bit.

An interesting take on the future of digital data, with the idea of a "cryptocosm" where data flows comparatively freely, but is also more secure. While this was interesting, some of the arguments against net neutrality in the present were short-sighted and failed to take into account the fact that his cryptocosm future is likely a decade out.
