I do feel like some of the reviews I’ve seen are right: it is bloated/long and slow. But man, I did love the story all the same, and I’m hard pressed to think of things i would remove. While there’s definitely a larger driving plot, I think ultimately it’s just more contemplative as well. I loved Sloane so much, and the world building. It says it’s #1 in a series, but it stands very well on its own.

I was drawn in from page 1. I love the choice to start this story after the initial action, and to tell it in part through "official" documents of the events that happened - and then where it goes after that.! Sorry, no spoilers - just know that this is super fun, super engaging, great distraction reading.
