It had been a long while since I read a crime mystery book.. This was so so so good. Loved it. Also first book I read on an e ink reader and just couldn't put it down.

To avoid typing an essay I'm gonna try to sum up why this book was mediocre: 1) James Patterson: If Patterson has a million haters, then I'm one of them.
If Patteron has one hater, then I'm THAT ONE.
If Patterson has no haters, that means I'm dead. 2) MAJOR Copaganda: ACAB, this book definitely solidified why no one likes police 3) Misogyny: The women felt like props for the man to interact with and the author HAD to let us know repeatedly how HOT these babes were. Also convenient how these major 10s couldn't resist our MC. 4) Cliche: I will say the funniest part about this book is reading it in a stereotypical New York accent /Film Noir voice over. It’s comical how well it fits. 5) Drawn out. I understand the concept of a thriller but damn did this one feel like it was stalling til the "big reveal". All in all, I've probably read worse but it really just felt like a cliche macho cop drama and the ending only made me roll my eyes. (Last thing: There is deadass a line where the MC claims Hyde Park is "one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in they city" and my family who LIVES in Hyde Park laughed when I relayed it to them. Makes you wonder how well the author knows Chicago lmao).

This book was a page turning mystery, but it grew incredibly boring very quickly. It was very misogynistic and the love story was instantaneous. Not a very good read.

James Patterson said this is the best book he has written in 20 years and he is right. Loved it. A page turner with a great ending.

The James Patterson we all know and love. A quick and easy read that keeps you guessing until the very last page.
