I was disappointed by this book. I thought the concept was ok, but there are a lot of major holes in the plot that are supposed to make you question a character but comes across as the author just changing plot directions half way through the plot. I guessed the plot twist and didn’t like that the ending was very abrupt. One page, the plot twist was happening and then the next page it’s 6 months in the future without any warning.

I had most of it figured out quicker than expected, but it kept my attention throughout and surprised a couple times.

This is one of the worst books I’ve read in my entire life. A trite writing style with miserable characters and predictable plot twists. To summarize this book:
SpoilerTwo woman with no self esteem vie for an awful man

I wish people were more like books. If you realize halfway through a novel that you aren't enjoying it anymore, you can just stop and find something new to read. Same with films and TV dramas. There is no judgment, no guilt, nobody
even needs to know unless you choose to tell them. But with people, you tend to have to see it through to the end, and sadly not everyone gets to live happily ever after

Sometimes you just know a person is bad news as soon as you meet them, because they’re rotten, inside and out, and instinct tells you to stay away.

this one was difficult for me to rate. when i finished it, it didn’t feel like a 5 star read BUT it also didn’t feel like a 4 star read or as low as a 3 star read. i think i hyped this one up for myself prior to diving in to it, which ultimately lead to me being disappointed and settling on 3 stars. it started out great and i really liked it until the end, which i wasn’t a fan of at all. while i didn’t guess the main/big plot twist, i still didn’t get that wow factor i look for in thrillers when the twists/reveals occur. i did really enjoy the writing style, so i’ll definitely be checking out other books by this author - this just wasn’t the book for me.

i greatly enjoyed this book. it was a slow burn, but i knew that there was more than meets the eye, so it was fairly easy to stay invested. the chapters swap perspectives and there's definitely some unreliable narrators here, which always makes the mystery more fun for me to solve, personally. i enjoyed the author's writing style as well and will likely read more of her work in the future.
