4 stars for story, but 5 stars form BEAUTY!!! I’ll buy anything Coralie Bickford-Smith touches, tbh. Seriously, check out this one and her other picture book, The Fox and the Star!

This is a very short picture book. The word “picture” is an understatement as each page contains beautiful works of art. This simple storyline reminds the reader to appreciate the present and the treasures of your own life. I have never felt so related to an earthworm as I have when reading this book. Take 5 minutes out of your day to appreciate this gorgeous book.

A visual treat in autumnal colours and changing perspectives, all told at a lively pace - but...
Several times through this and a /very/ close look at the final pages have left me wondering quite how tricksy a picturebook can get before we move into a genuine lack of clarity. A worm struggles free from the constraints of its life and is picked up by a bird. The worm experiences liberation, exhilarating flight - but is it self deception? What happens when it falls from the starling’s beak in the middle of the roosting birds? Has it had its moment of ecstasy and will now return to the earth? Why does the starling adopt the worm’s aspirations? Was the worm eaten and has the bird ingested its dreams? If so, this is a bleak story of despair: we will not achieve our dreams, merely pass on our futile hopes to others...

Another great book by Bickford-Smith! I'm not sure kids will get the humor, but their parents will enjoy it. Children and adults will like the illustrations. A beautiful book!

Toto ma upútalo v kníhkupectve nádhernou obálkou. Malo to krásne ilustrácie a pár viet. Keby to ale píšem ja, tak ten vták toho červa zje.

This is a short and cozy quick read. The big sellers for me were the cover and art.
